Lockdown Muslin Scarf Project

We have been through some extremely difficult times and I found it quite daunting but I decided to immerse myself into something new. I decided to make small neck scarves that one could use as a face mask or just as a scarf. I chose muslin cloth because it is so crisp and natural.

What is muslin….Muslin is a cotton fabric of plain weave. It is made in a wide range of weights from delicate sheers to coarse sheeting. Muslin is a woven cotton cloth which was once a luxury fabric. Although it is commonly believed that the cloth originated in the Iraqi city of Mosul, despite its name it is now understood that the cloth likely originated in ancient India. Known as Jamdani, this original form of muslin was usually brightly coloured and patterned while remaining lightweight and almost sheer. Did you know that muslin used to be a fabric as highly prized as silk?
